Senior Cricket Last Week (28 May - 2 June):
- 1st XI won vs West End Esher by 3 runs (scorecard here) in Surrey County League 1st XI Division 2 (table here). Youngster Alf Peirse made 68 not out on 1st XI debut to help post a semi-competitive 138 all out. The opposition cruised to 50/1, but James Gawn (4/26) sparked a huge turn around. A wonder catch from Om Vasaikar in the field helped, but going into the last over 4 runs were required with 1 wicket left. Step forward skipper Andrew Merriman, who bowled the no 11 for a magnificent 3 run victory with just 5 balls remaining. Two incredibly tight victories in two weeks as momentum now starts to build in our new division - onwards and upwards!
- 2nd XI lost vs Byfleet by 71 runs (scorecard here) in Surrey County League 2nd XI Division 1 (table here). Rohit Nag (4/28) helped restrict the opposition scoring to 178 all out, although there was a hint of disappointment having had them 67/7 at one stage. Bank collapsed to 36/6, but Samuel Chadwick (32 not out) and Nag (29) provided some hope. Sadly once their 57 run partnership was broken for the 7th wicket, Bank ran out of steam to finish on 111 all out. A shame to lose, but our most competitive 2s fixture to date.
- 3rd XI lost vs Sinjuns by 10 wickets (scorecard here) in Surrey Championship 3rd XI Division 6 Central (table here). It was a bad toss to lose on a difficult wicket, as Mark Hunnable was the only Bank man into double figures. Three run outs didn’t help in a disappointing 39 all out. The opposition opener went ballistic in the chase to cause a heavy one sided defeat.
- Sunday XI drew vs Barnestormers (scorecard here) after the opposition posted an imposing 226/7 declared. Bank could only manage 124/8 but held on to share the spoils.
- Cup 1st XI lost vs Ewell by 23 runs (scorecard here) in the SCL 45 over knockout cup. Harry Peirse (4/11) was extremely impressive, but a ton from their opener helped them score to 176 all out. Peirse then top scored with 47 in a real man of the match display, but it wasn’t quite enough for victory as Bank fell just short on 153/9.
- Bank Blitz T20 XI won vs Wimbledon via concession.
Weekly MVP - Alf Peirse
