Weekly update on what's coming up for BOE CC, plus results from last week. Full details for all training and fixtures can be found within Pitchero.

Senior Cricket This Week (28 May - 2 June):

  • WEDNESDAY - Training at Barn Elms Sports Trust is now from 7-9pm as the light is better.
  • SATURDAY - 1st XI vs West End Esher (home), 2nd XI vs Byfleet (away), 3rd XI vs Sinjuns (home).
  • SUNDAY - 1st XI vs Ewell (away) in Round 1 of the League Cup, Sunday XI vs Barnestormers (away).

Senior Cricket Last Week (20 - 27 May):

  • 1st XI won vs Wandgas by 24 runs (scorecard here) in Surrey County League 1st XI Division 2 (table here). Bank were massively struggling at 28/7, but Matt Bartlett (31 not out) showed some fight to help Bank inch up to 87/8 to at least bat out the 45 overs. The opposition openers moved to 34/0 without too much trouble, but three superb catches behind the stumps by Mark Streather helped turn the match on it's head. Arin Gramopadhye's maiden 5 wicket haul combined with skipper Andrew Merriman (4/12) saw Wandgas lose all 10 wickets for just 29 runs, in a score of 63 all out. A crazy finish to a game that hopefully kickstarts the 1st XI season! Newcomer Blake Andrighetto has a vlog of the day HERE including all of the wickets (from 10.30 in the video, with some increasingly excited wicket celebrations as the impossible became possible).
  • 2nd XI lost vs Sheen Park by 149 runs (scorecard here) in Surrey County League 2nd XI Division 1 (table here). A decent bowling display saw the opposition manage 208/7, despite Mo Dilshad's miserly spell of 9 overs, 6 maidens, 1 wicket for 5 runs. The Bank batting fell apart in the chase with Max Johnson (29) the only resistance of note in a lowly 59 all out.
  • 3rd XI won vs Hampton Hill by 4 wickets (scorecard here) in Surrey Championship 3rd XI Division 6 Central (table here). In what must surely be a first in Bank's long history, all 10 wickets were taken in the match by juniors aged 15 or less. The future is bright! Will Saich led the way with an astonishing 6/3 (yes, 6 wickets for 3 runs), with fellow youngsters Rafael Jackson-Garcia, Marvin D'Souza & Tom Hubbard doing the rest of the damage. There were some nerves at 31/4, but captain John Jackson (19 not out) shepherded the side home to a first win of the season, with that man Saich hitting the winning run.
  • Sunday XI lost vs XPSG by 4 wickets (scorecard here) in a thrilling match on the penultimate ball. Mark Streather (105 not out) led the way with a fantastic ton in a total of 203/6 declared. The balance of the match ebbed and flowed throughout the XPSG innings, but ultimately they ran out narrow victors in a very enjoyable afternoon of cricket.
  • Bank Blitz T20 XI lost vs Mitcham by 79 runs (scorecard here) in Surrey Slam Plate Group 3 (table here). Mitcham clobbered 179/3 from their 20 overs helped by a poor display in the field from the Bank men. Shahrukh Nawaz (2/9) was one of the lone bright spots with the ball. In response Bank lost early wickets and the chase never really got going, with skipper Richard Kendall top scoring with just 16 in a total of 100/9.

Weekly MVP - Will Saich
