Senior Cricket Last Week (8 - 14 August):

  • 1st XI lost vs Old Rutlishians (scorecard here) by 1 wicket and stay 6th in 1st XI Division 2 (see here), with the chasing pack behind now catching up. Bank were struggling at 70-7, but late order runs from Tobias Ross (34), captain Kit Winder (31) and Nikul Ramesh (24) launched a recovery to 185 all out. In response Old Rutlishians were huge favourites at 80-0, but regular wickets began to fall with Winder (3-37) and Ramesh (3-38) the standouts. Unfortunately the final pair were able to put on 15 for the last wicket for a very narrow 1 wicket win for the opposition.
  • 2nd XI lost vs Woking & Horsell (scorecard here) by 4 wickets and remain 10th in 2nd XI Division 3 (see here). Yogi Patel (58) and Wes Johnson (57 not out) helped Bank to a competitive 206-9, and the game looked finely poised with Woking 159-6 in response thanks to Tarun Chordia (3-44), plus a one handed worldie from Yusuf Jackson. This brought in the Woking no 8, who smashed 37 not out in just 14 balls to help the opposition to victory by 4 wickets, with Bank now probably needing to win the final three games to avoid relegation.
  • 3rd XI won vs Old Whitgiftians (scorecard here) by 9 wickets and move up to 6th in Regional Division 6 East (see here). Ben Jones took 4-30 to restrict the opposition to 168 all out, with the final 6 wickets falling for just 14 runs when a big total looked on the cards. It took Bank just 20 overs to storm to victory, with Khalid Saeed (a stunning 101 not out from just 59 balls) and Joe Hicks (63 not out from 60 balls) ensuring victory.
  • 4th XI drew vs Old Hamptonians (scorecard here). Debarshi Roy smashed 122 not out as part of an imposing 222-6 declared, with Old Hamptonians coming up just short on 217-8 in return.
  • 5th XI won vs Roehampton (scorecard here) by 24 runs on the third last ball of the innings. Alf Peirse (68) and Mark Streather (55) helped Bank reach 193 all out, before 7 different Bank bowlers then took a wicket, with four of those (Harry Peirse, Alf Peirse, Louis Stephens, Toby Stephens) all u15 or younger. Given the match was a declaration game Roehampton were clinging on at 9 wickets down, but Harry Peirse stepped up to trap the no 11 LBW to cue wild celebrations.
  • Sunday XI lost vs Christchurch (scorecard here) by 84 runs. Richard Down took 5-60 to help restrict the opposition to 176-9 declared, but the Bank batting collapsed to 90 all out despite 41 from Matt Luddington.
  • Midweek XI lost vs Australia House (scorecard here) by 41 runs. Ben Jones (3-16) took a double wicket maiden, but the strong opposition batting line up reached 164-5 from their 20 overs. Bank came up well short on 123-3 in response but it was an enjoyable game.
